Before visiting any doctor or having any lab work done, it’s essential for you to know what is covered by your health insurance plan. You may have a doctor that is covered, and you assume that the radiologist or cardiologist that he sends you to is covered as well – and then you find out when the bill arrives that they aren’t.
As Cinergy Health explains, Your surgeon may be covered, but there’s an anesthesiologist, maybe a radiologist or a neurologist as well. You have to read the fine print each time you see a doctor and know what is covered and what is not covered. If you didn’t know about this ahead of time, then you are stuck with the bill.
